Miller Brewing Company Wins Best Beverage Manufacturer of 2016; they awarded over 200k to entrepreneurs in 2016…

Miller Lite along with business mogul Daymond John of ABC’s “Shark Tank” named Santa Fe, New Mexico-based company HoneyMoon Brewery as the grand-prize winner of the 2016 Miller Lite Tap the Future competition. HoneyMoon Brewery originally auditioned in Houston, Texas and pitched an adult probiotic Kombucha tea with a touch of alcohol.  The company took home the $200,000 grand prize, following two rounds of rigorous live pitching.  “A unique product, enthusiasm, and edge are what made us winners,” says Ayla Bystrom-Williams, Founder, and CEO of Honeymoon Brewery.
When asked what was the most intimidating part of the competition, she replied, “Everything, especially presenting in front of Daymond John and the fear of explaining Kombucha.”  “James Hill and I came away with financial understanding, acutely defining our customers, and how that equates to dollars,” Ayla continued.
daymond-john1-millerWe asked Ayla what would she do differently, “Spend more time with our business plan, talking about what we put into our business plan, and be more comfortable discussing hard facts,” she replied.  “We plan to use the 200k to secure a new production facility, and attaining a CFO,” she added.
“Fear of not winning,” lurked over the Honeymoon Brewery’s team, Ayla explained.  However, they anticipated the positive of gaining relationships and the opportunity to gain ideas about their concept.
“Winning the Miller Lite Tap the Future competition is a tremendous honor,” said Ayla from HoneyMoon Brewery. “From the very beginning we knew that we had a product that could be revolutionary, it just took the work and dedication of our team to show the judges the same thing. The exposure from this competition, as well the prize money will go a long way in getting us to the next level.
