Miller Brewing Company Wins Best Beverage Manufacturer of 2016; they awarded over 200k to entrepreneurs in 2016…
Cocktail Chronicles awards “The Miller Brewing Company” as the most ‘socially responsible beverage organization’ for 2016. This is due to Miller’s commitment to creating a positive and meaningful impact on the social, environmental and economic issues that affect their business, employees, consumers, communities and other stakeholders.
Miller Lite along with business mogul Daymond John of ABC’s “Shark Tank” named Santa Fe, New Mexico-based company HoneyMoon Brewery as the grand-prize winner of the 2016 Miller Lite Tap the Future competition. HoneyMoon Brewery originally auditioned in Houston, Texas and pitched an adult probiotic Kombucha tea with a touch of alcohol. The company took home the $200,000 grand prize, following two rounds of rigorous live pitching. “A unique product, enthusiasm, and edge are what made us winners,” says Ayla Bystrom-Williams, Founder, and CEO of Honeymoon Brewery.
When asked what was the most intimidating part of the competition, she replied, “Everything, especially presenting in front of Daymond John and the fear of explaining Kombucha.” “James Hill and I came away with financial understanding, acutely defining our customers, and how that equates to dollars,” Ayla continued.
We asked Ayla what would she do differently, “Spend more time with our business plan, talking about what we put into our business plan, and be more comfortable discussing hard facts,” she replied. “We plan to use the 200k to secure a new production facility, and attaining a CFO,” she added.
“Fear of not winning,” lurked over the Honeymoon Brewery’s team, Ayla explained. However, they anticipated the positive of gaining relationships and the opportunity to gain ideas about their concept.
“Winning the Miller Lite Tap the Future competition is a tremendous honor,” said Ayla from HoneyMoon Brewery. “From the very beginning we knew that we had a product that could be revolutionary, it just took the work and dedication of our team to show the judges the same thing. The exposure from this competition, as well the prize money will go a long way in getting us to the next level. And more importantly, the business knowledge we gained from the judges has given us insight on how to improve our brand and sustain it for years to come. We’re extremely thankful to Miller Lite for the opportunity and applaud the company for empowering entrepreneurs through Tap the Future.”
About Honeymoon Brewery:
HoneyMoon Brewery has developed the first Kombucha Beer to be produced in the Southwest, not to mention the first to be developed with the assistance of a top-level U.S. research facility (Los Alamos National Laboratories). Our innovative alcoholic Kombucha caters to the palette of both craft beer drinkers as well as the health-conscious individuals living in New Mexico and the greater Southwest (and eventually the world!). HoneyMoon has created an extremely refreshing take on the complex and effervescent nature of Kombucha by bridging beer, and Kombucha, brewing techniques. The result is a sessionable gluten-free beverage that’s tart, delicious and full of gut-loving probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals- all while still delivering a satisfying ABV (Alcohol By Volume) of 3%-5%, similar to that of an average craft beer.

About Miller Brewing Company:
Miller Brewing Company was founded in 1855 by Frederick J. Miller when he purchased the Plank Road Brewery in Milwaukee, a city he chose as the best place for a brewery given its access to great water. Miller Lite, the original great-tasting light pilsner beer, (MillerLite.com, Facebook.com/MillerLite, @MillerLite on Twitter, YouTube.com/MillerLite) was introduced nationally in 1975 and is among the top-five selling beers in the United States. The brewery’s oldest enduring beer is Miller High Life (MillerHighLife.com, Facebook.com/MillerHighLife, @MillerHighLife on Twitter). Known as the Champagne of Beers, it was introduced in 1903 and still is brewed with the same yeast strain that Miller carried in his pocket from Germany. Miller Genuine Draft (MGD.com, Facebook.com/MillerGenuineDraft, @Miller_Global on Twitter), introduced in 1986, is the original cold-filtered, packaged draft beer. Miller Brewing Company operates in the United States and Puerto Rico as part of MillerCoors, a joint venture of SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Company.
